The Fall-Winter ACE@UTM program occurs once per week on Saturday mornings from September until April. Students taking the Fall-Winter ACE@UTM program also enroll in 3.0 academic credits at the University of Toronto Mississauga (1.5 in the Fall and 1.5 in the Winter), while completing the Academic English Level 60 language course part-time throughout the academic year.
In order to pass the program, and satisfy the English proficiency requirement, students need to achieve a final grade of 'B' or higher in Academic English Level 60, and achieve a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) at least 1.50 in their UTM courses.
Program Length: Part-time, 24 weeks
Program Dates: September 7, 2024 to March 29, 2025
Program Fee: $5,845.00 CAD
The ACE@UTM program fee does not cover university fees, such as tuition. Students enrolled in UTM undergraduate courses are also responsible for their tuition fee payments according to the fee schedule.
Academic English Course
All Fall-Winter ACE@UTM students will complete the Academic English Level 60 course. The final grade in this course will determine whether the English proficiency requirement for the University of Toronto has been satisfied.
Academic English classes will be held virtually on Saturday mornings.
Additional Support Programming
Students in Fall-Winter ACE@UTM will be automatically enrolled in the International Student Mentorship Program through the International Education Centre at UTM. This program pairs students with an upper year UTM student mentor to provide one-on-one guidance and support, throughout their first year. Social events are also open to all participants. A certificate of completion and CCR notation are also awarded, at the end of the program.
Academic Advising
All Fall-Winter ACE@UTM students will also have access to a designated Academic Advisor to support them with their academic planning throughout their first year of study. Group Academic Advising Sessions will be held monthly.
Awards
We are proud to offer financial awards to successful Fall-Winter ACE@UTM students. The Awards Committee will select students who have achieved the highest grades, and who have demonstrated excellent attendance and engagement in all components of the program. The value of the award will be credited to the recipients' ACORN financial accounts.
