How can we help you today?
I'm new to Mississauga. How can I learn more about the city?
The Visiting Mississauga web page will provide you with useful information.
How do I know where to go on my first day of the program?
You will receive detailed information via email before the program begins to let you know what you can expect, where to go for your classes, and more.
I am eligible for both the Summer and the Fall-Winter program streams. Which one should I choose?
We encourage you to explore both options to choose the best fit for you! The advantage of the Summer program is that you may be able to satisfy the English proficiency condition of your offer of admission, before beginning your academic studies. It's one less thing to worry about once classes begin in September.
Students who successfully complete Summer ACE@UTM will be able to enrol in a full-time course load once classes begin. Fall-Winter ACE@UTM students will complete the Academic English course part-time, and enrol in a reduced academic course load at UTM.
Do I need to write an English proficiency test in order to be considered for ACE@UTM?
Yes, it is highly recommended that students attempt a recognized test of English proficiency. This will help us determine your eligibility for ACE@UTM. Please visit our Future Students website for a full list of ways to meet U of T's English proficiency requirements.
The ACE@UTM program is by invitation only, and is included in students' Offers of Admission. This exclusive program is offered to academically strong students who have not yet satisfied their English proficiency requirements. If a student does not have the ACE@UTM program stated as a condition in their offer, they are not eligible for the program.
If I pass an English proficiency test before completing the ACE@UTM program what should I do?
Please submit your official test results to the University of Toronto to demonstrate that you have passed an English proficiency test that meets the English language requirement.
After you have submitted the official results, please contact us to let us know.
I just sent my new English proficiency test score. How long does it take for the university to get it?
This varies but it can take up to 10 business days.
When my offer of admission says that ACE@UTM is a condition, what does this mean?
This means that you have not yet met the University of Toronto's English proficiency requirement. You have been given the opportunity to complete ACE@UTM in order to meet this requirement. Please register and complete the ACE@UTM program, or submit a new English proficiency test by the listed deadline, in order to satisfy this condition of your offer of admission.
I'm am an international student, do I need a study permit?
Yes! If you are an international student, you need a valid study permit in order to start your studies at UTM. If you currently hold a study permit and it is expiring in three months or less, you must apply to extend the study permit before the expiry date in order to be able to continue studying.
If you have not yet received your post-secondary study permit or extended your permit, you will need to provide a proof that you have submitted your application in order to receive your TCard and enrol in courses. Please refer to our International Education Centre for more information and guidance.
When do I enrol in UTM courses?
Fall-Winter course enrolment information can be found on our New Students website.
What is the mode of delivery for ACE@UTM?
In 2022, this program will be offered primarily in-person. There will be a combination of in-person and asynchronous online components. Students should be prepared to be close to campus by July, if completing this program.
Can I live on-campus during the Summer program?
Yes! We have resumed our all-inclusive option for Summer ACE@UTM. For an additional fee, students are provided with a room on-campus in one of our student residences, a meal plan, and additional support & social programming. For more information about this option, please contact our Department of Student Housing & Residence Life at email@example.com or 905-828-5286.
Who will support me as a Summer ACE@UTM student?
In addition to working closely with your English teacher on a daily basis, you will have continuous support from the ACE@UTM team and UTM Peer Leaders. You will particpate in a program orientation, ACE+ programming, and one-on-one advising, among other activities.
I joined the Summer ACE@UTM waitlist. What happens now?
If you requested to join the waitlist, and a space becomes available for you, we will email you with an update. In the event that this happens, you must be prepared to make your deposit payment within three business days of submitting your registration form.
What happens if I do not pass the Summer ACE@UTM program?
Students who do not pass Summer ACE@UTM program may be eligible to participate in the part-time Fall-Winter program. For more details, visit the Summer ACE@UTM Final Grades page.
If I provide a new English proficiency test score before the Summer ACE@UTM program ends, can I receive a refund?

Will the Fall-Winter ACE@UTM program be offered online this year?
The Fall-Winter program will be offered in a hybrid structure for the 2022-23 year. There will be a combination of in-person/ online and synchronous/ asynchronous components.
If I can't take Fall-Winter ACE@UTM, what are my options?

What happens if I don’t pass the Fall-Winter ACE@UTM program?
