Aastha Sahni (HBSc 2010, MEd 2013)
Research Assistant, University of Toronto
Aastha Sahni is a Psychology and Exceptionality in Human Learning alumna who graduated with her HBSc in 2010. After attending teacher’s college at Lakehead University in Orillia, Sahni returned to U of T to complete her MEd in Developmental Psychology and Education.
Although she currently works as a healthcare navigator in a health and wellness company, her previous position as a research assistant with the KNAER adolescent brain project, allowed Sahni help in developing a website highlighting the basics of neuroscience and how it can be applied within the classroom through evidence-based approaches. She also oversaw tests and exams for university students who were registered with Accessibility Services at U of T. She enjoyed working with a diverse group of students, especially those with exceptionalities.
Sahni says she is inspired by the work of non-profit and organizations and community field work, and aspires to create innovative solutions to educational issues. Previously, Sahini coordinated a summer camp program for Citizenship and Immigration Canada where she helped children of newcomers to Canada to learn English and acclimatize to their new country.
During her spare time, Aastha enjoys volunteering at various local non-profit organizations, and stays fit with Bollywood dancing and yoga.
