We are proud to share that Johnathan Sorrentino, PhD in Earth Science candidate from the Laflamme Lab, is the first runner-up in the UTM Three Minute Thesis Competition.
This annual competition allows Canadian graduate students to display their research to audiences and disciplines within the University and the broader public.

The Department of Chemical and Physical Sciences hosted its annual Awards Ceremony on Friday November 18, 2022. This year, 28 undergraduate students and 10 graduate students received awards. Professor Claudiu Gradinaru was selected as a co-recipient of the 2022 Desmond Morton Research Excellence Award. This award acknowledges exceptional achievement in research and academic activity. Professor Moore's PhD student Marc De Benedetti has been accepted into a prestigious summer school on "Modeling of the Arctic Climate System” that is to be held at the International Arctic Research Center (IARC) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The IARC is one of the leading centers for Arctic Climate Research and Marc was selected as one of the 20 participants in this school out of 60 applicants.
Professor Judith Poe is the recipient of the 2014 Canadian Society for Chemistry Faculty Advisor Award. This award is presented to a faculty advisor from a chemistry department who has demonstrated exceptional performance working with students. This award is a Student Chapter nominated award.
