PAC Events

To fulfill its mission of stimulating research and discussion on issues facing professional accounting, PAC offers events that bring together accounting researchers, standard setters, regulators, and professional accountants with a view to advancing professional accounting’s service to society.  PAC Conferences/Symposia are the first step in this journey.

PAC 2019 Annual Conference on Professional Accounting Futures – September 13, 2019

This conference examined the future facing professional accounting in the following areas:

  • What factors are expected to influence the future of professional accounting?
  • What purposes and objectives were agreed for the professional in the U.K. and Canada, and how were these arrived at?
  • What changes do new directions require in education, ethical conduct, and standards of the profession?
  • What next steps are to be anticipated in developing these ideas?

PAC 2018 Annual Conference on Professional Accounting Futures – September 14, 2018

This conference examined the future facing professional accounting in the following areas:

PAC-CPA Canada Joint Symposium on the Future of Professionalism – May 10, 2018

The world is changing at an unprecedented rate. Influences like big data, artificial intelligence, multi-generational workforces and changing business models will have an impact on the way we work and how businesses operate. As business professionals, how do we ensure we are adapting to the pace of change without compromising integrity, objectivity, and professional behaviour?  The symposium explored the following questions:

  • How is professionalism being affected by changing business models?
  • How will the drivers of change – economic, environmental, technological, societal, and geopolitical – affect the future of professionalism?
