Planning for fall 2021

To the UTM community,

Now that Spring has officially arrived – crocuses on campus! – I wanted to update everyone about UTM’s planning for fall 2021.

On March 8, you received a letter from U of T President Meric Gertler, outlining the university’s plans for a safe return to in-person activities in the fall term. Encouraged by Ontario’s progress with vaccinations, I hope that we can gather together in September for in-person teaching, learning and research on UTM’s beautiful campus. I also recognize that much remains uncertain. So, I wanted to respond to a question that some students, families, faculty, staff and librarians have reached out to ask—what if…?

UTM is planning for a full range of scenarios, ready to offer a combination of in-person and remote course delivery. This fall, we will teach UTM students wherever they are. We will continue to offer accommodations and flexible work arrangements for employees as required.

UTM continues to work closely with Peel Public Health and local healthcare providers on a collaborative and scientifically informed response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and safety of our university and local communities is just as important to us as providing excellent education to our outstanding students.
