We are currently one of the best sociology departments in North America, particularly in the area of law and society and criminology, as well as our other areas of strengths, including sociology of gender, sociology of culture and food, and the sociology of inequality writ large. We successfully attract large numbers of students and excellent faculty.
We are tightly integrated with the Graduate Program, where we engage in intellectual exchange with a large and vibrant group of colleagues across the three campuses and offer a high-class graduate program housed at St. George, staffed and run by faculty from the three U of T campuses.
Our department is proud to offer undergraduate programs situated on a mid-size university campus where we can build a local intellectual community through targeted curriculum development whilst integrating undergraduate students in our research efforts and preparing them for further education and paid employment.
