Career Management Mini Series

UTMAGs, in partnership with the Career Centre, is pleased to offer a mini series of four short workshops and events customized for UTM graduate students that will help you kick start your career after grad school. Learn where to look for jobs (academic and non-academic), how to effectively broaden your network, how to articulate your own skills and hear about the career paths of a variety of industry professionals. Attend the whole series to help you make your plans for your next steps! 

Session 1 – Where are the jobs?  
Date: Thurs. Sept. 22, 2016

Time: 9 - 11am
Learn about a variety of job options out there for grad students, discuss how different jobs and industries impact lifestyle, learn how to find postings and identify next steps in preparing for your job search.

Session 2 – Focus on Skills! 
Date: Wed. Nov. 23, 2016 
Location: Grad Lounge DV2068B 
Time: 9am – 11am (Go to Nov. 23 on the calendar to register)
This workshop will help you identify the transferable skills that you have, and learn how to effectively express those to potential employers through accomplishment based statements that can be used in resumes and cover letters;  also briefly review resumes, cover letters and CVs. We will be giving some generalized feedback on resumes. Please email your resume by Nov. 18 to anne.gaiger@utoronto.ca.

Session 3 – Marketing Yourself – Building relationships, Interviews and more!

Session 4 – Graduate Student Networking Panel

This networking events will allow graduate students to hear about and network with a variety of industry professionals and alumni.
