U of T Mississauga actively builds and maintains relationships with other higher education institutions to simplify the process of transferring to university. To date, U of T Mississauga has partnered with George Brown College, Humber, Mohawk, Niagara College, and Sheridan. Detailed information about these partnerships is outlined in the agreements below.
Students who successfully complete the General Arts & Science (GAS) diploma programs intended for university transfer may apply for advanced standing at the University of Toronto Mississauga in an Arts stream (Humanities, Social Sciences, Communication & Culture, or Visual Studies).
In order to gain admission to UTM, the following requirements must be met:
- Completion of a two-year (four-semester) GAS Program
- Final cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (roughly 73%)
- Successful completion of pre-requisite courses (if listed, other than English) with strong grades
In order to obtain advanced placement (transfer credits) towards your academic history at UTM, the following requirements must be met:
- An appropriate combination of courses (see agreements below)
- A minimum of 60% in each transferable courses (listed in the appendix of each agreement below)
Students interested in pursuing other program areas will need to ensure they meet the grade point average (GPA) and pre-requisite requirements for the program area. General Arts & Science Summer Visiting Student Opportunity
After completing the first two semesters of the General Arts & Science (GAS) Program at George Brown College, Humber, Mohawk, Niagara College or Sheridan, excellent students are eligible to apply for admission as Visiting Students to complete up to 1.0 credit during the summer session at UTM.
Step 1: Determine if you are eligible
Interested students must be academically strong and should have the recommendation of their program coordinator to enrol in summer courses at UTM. Eligible students must have completed the first year (2 semesters) of the two-year GAS Program with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5+ (roughly 80%).
If you qualify for this opportunity please continue to Step 2. If you do not qualify, you are welcome to speak with your program coordinator and/or Manager, Pathways Programs at UTM (contact information below).
Step 2: Complete the online General Arts & Science Summer Visiting Student Application
- May 1 for F/Y (F = May-June, Y = May-August) Summer session classes
- July 1 for S (S = July-August) Summer session classes
If an above deadline date falls on a weekend or holiday, applications will be accepted on the next business day.
Step 3: Submit an unofficial college transcript
Send the Manager, Pathways Programs a copy of your unofficial college transcript to-date (showing completed first semester, and in-progress second semester courses) via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note in the subject line “GAS Summer Visiting Opportunity”.
Step 4: Wait to hear about your conditional offer and further instructions
A response to your application will be sent to you via email. If you are admitted, please proceed to Step 5. If you are not admitted, and have questions, please feel free to contact us.
Step 5: Speak with the Manager, Pathways Programs
Connect with the Manager, Pathways Programs to discuss which course(s) would be most beneficial for you to enrol in during the summer session given the articulation agreement guidelines and your academic interests and strengths.
Step 6: Secure your space in your course(s) and get your U of T Student ID card
Use your U of T Student ID (emailed to you on admission) and the course timetable to enrol in your course(s) via the student web service, ACORN. In order to become registered, you must pay your course fees following the enrolment and payment deadlines outlined in the current Summer Registration Guide. Note that all UTM degree students are given priority to enrol in courses prior to the non-degree visiting students’ registration date and that some courses are restricted at all times to U of T Mississauga students. Pay course fees at your bank using a U of T Fees Invoice that can be printed from your financial account on ACORN. More details on when and how to pay your fess can be found in the Summer Registration Guide. If you do not enrol and pay fees by the deadline, you will be removed from all your courses and your registration cancelled due to non-payment of fees.
Before classes begin, come into the TCard Office (CCT Atrium) and create your U of T Student ID card (TCard). You can find out more information about this process here: www.utm.utoronto.ca/tcard. You will need this card to gain access to the library, gym, shuttle bus and more, and to ensure proper identification for tests and exams.
Step 7: Confirm final college grades
You can either choose to submit an official final college transcript to the Office of Student Recruitment & Admissions at UofT Mississauga or you can authorize the Manager, Pathways Programs at the University of Toronto Mississauga to check your final results with your home college via the General Arts & Science Summer Visiting Student Application. Verification of final grades is required to clear the conditions of this opportunity (a final CGPA of 3.5+).
Note: If you do not meet the requirements, your registration in Summer session UTM course(s) will be cancelled and a full refund will be issued (if applicable).
