Professor Kant’s research interests and teaching focus on forest resource economics and management, with specific emphasis on the economics of sustainable forest management. This includes the economics of community-based forest management systems; valuation of ecosystem services including social, cultural, and land use activities of First Nations peoples; behavioral economics of peoples involved in co-management of resources; non-market signals of resource scarcity; international trade of forest products; forest tenure; and social choice theory and forest management.
