Research Impact
Research impact is the demonstrable contribution that research makes to academia, society and the economy. Getting your research read and discussed will increase your impact and increase your competitiveness for honours and awards.

Outreach and communication
Promoting your research to a general audience increases its reach and impact. Learn more about using different media channels, including social media, the university website, online, print and broadcast media, and other public engagement channels to share information about your work.

- Please contact the UTM Office of Communications for support in publicizing your work through the media.
- Researchers can sign up to be added to the U of T Blue Book, a searchable directory of U of T experts who can comment on the news of the day.
UTM events
Throughout the year, UTM holds events that showcase research and other scholarly work produced by UTM researchers.
- The Annual Celebration of Books honours authors and editors of recent scholarly monographs
- The Annual Desmond Morton Research Excellence Lecture is given by recipients of the Annual Desmond Morton Research Excellence Award for outstanding achievement in research and scholarly activity
- The Annual Research Prize Symposium celebrates the winners of the UTM Annual Research Prizes
- The Summer Undergraduate Research Fair (SURF) celebrates the research conducted by summer undergraduate students research students
