Protecting your workstation is both a high priority and a constant challenge in today’s cybersecurity environment. To provide enhanced support for essential antivirus, Operating System and application software updates, UTM IITS will be remotely installing software on all domain-enabled Windows workstations effective Monday, January 19th.  Please note that this will not, in any way, allow IITS enhanced rights over the content of your workstation, nor access to any of your data.

OSX 10.10.1 Yosemite Testing

At this time we still do not recommend upgrading to OSX 10.10 Yosemite. 

The latest 10.10.1 update was unable to fix all Wi-Fi issues. There are still reports of poor Wi-Fi reliability. The update may work for some, but not all cases.
eToken and UTM’s TeamViewer remote support programs are officially not compatible, and often do not function as intended. 

Microsoft Office 2011 Update 14.4.6 was tested on Yosemite 10.10 /10.10.1 and does fix Outlook/Word crash issues.

System Maintenance

Network Services will be performing scheduled server maintenance on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. There will be intermittent disruptions in all of our services, including wired and wireless networks. An update will be posted on http://www.utm.utoronto.ca/iits/news once the maintenance is complete.

Upgrade advisory: OSX 10.10 Yosemite

Apple recently released a new version of their operating system, Mac OSX 10.10 Yosemite. We do not recommend performing the upgrade at this time.  There have been reports of poor Wi-Fi performance, Microsoft Office 2011 compatibility issues and possible AMS/ROSI software functionality issues.

 

Emergency Maintenance

An emergency maintenance will be performed on UTM storage system this Saturday October 25th, 2014 from 5:00am to 10:00am. All UTM network, file and application servers and websites will not be available during this period. Wireless access should be available but some interruptions are possible.
