Candice Jay (HBA 2007)

Candice Jay, recipient of the 2017 Desmond Parker Outstanding Young Alumni Award, received an HBA specializing in Culture, Communications and Information Technology, marketing and professional writing. Shortly after graduating, she entered the financial services industry and continued her industry designations.

Jay has over 15 years of experience in the investment management industry and is Vice President at Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital. She focuses on working with charitable foundations and high net worth families—including women, entrepreneurs and generational families—to achieve their long-term financial goals. Strategic philanthropy is an important part of Candice's practice. She is passionate about working with clients to identify values and areas where philanthropy can play a role. 

Before joining CC&L Private capital, she was Vice President at Pembroke Private Wealth and Client Relationship Manager at HSBC Global Asset Manager in the private investment management division.

Jay understands the importance of giving back to her community. She is a current board member of the University of Toronto Alumni Association and incoming VP, Governance where she will chair the College of Electors, a group that she is fond of as it was where she began her early years of U of T alumni engagement. Jay is a Founding Member and on the Executive Committee of the UHN Impact Collective of the UHN Foundation. She is also a member of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP), Founding Partner of the Pan-Canadian Will Power Campaign through the CAGP Foundation, Founding Member of the CAGP Professional Advisor National Council and Member of the Mentorship Committee, and leads the engagement and mentorship for professional advisors in the GTA chapter.

Jay also volunteers for Junior Achievement Canada, delivering financial literacy programs and bringing real-world experience into the classroom of middle school and high school students. She has judged the Junior Achievement Company Program competition and been a mentor at the JA World of Choices program. She also participates in judging Enactus Canada competitions for university students. Enactus is a global organization that shapes generations of entrepreneurial leaders who are passionate about advancing the economic, social and environmental health of Canada.
