straight level 282° left 170° 1.6 m/s 13.5°C yes - Butterfly soared straight across an area of lift ( thermal beginning to lift off?).  A second D. plexippus, presumably a forager, was seen flying upwind at 1 m.
229 D. plexippus 9:13 15 m flap,
glide
straight descend W 233° 159° 1.7 m/s - - - Butterfly flapped, then glided, down to 1 m and landed on vegetation.  Another foraging D. plexippus was seen flying on a 152° bearing (upwind) at 1 - 2 m.  High scans with binoculars were not productive.

273° 248° 175° 0.5 m/s - yes - Butterfly soared across an area of lift, then began to circle and ascended nearly vertically.  It then left the thermal and glided back down.  Two more D. plexippus were seen:  a high-flying migrant and a low flying forager (presumed).

273° left 168° 1.8 m/s 16.5°C yes - Butterfly started at 6 m, climbed to a thermal, circled a few times, then began soaring in a straight line. Another D. plexippus was seen flying at 2 m.  High scans with binoculars were not productive.
