1 Danaus plexippus 8:02 12 m flap straight,

climb 233° - SE <1 m/s 24.5°C - haze Observations were made in an open area next to a motel in Calhoun.  Butterfly started at 2 m and appeared to be maneuvering to find the core of the thermal.

Break - - - - - - - - - - - - - Two D. plexippus were seen at about 9:00 flying along the roof of the motel.  A Mocking bird vigorously chased one of the butterflies but it was able to out-manoeuver the bird and escape.
- - 9:00 - - - - - - - - - yes cumulus Vultures  were seen soaring during the drive to Calhoun airport.  A D. plexippus was seen flying across the road.
4 D. plexippus 9:40 3 m flap straight level 262° left 154° 2.0 m/s 23.5°C yes cumulus I set up at the Calhoun Airport.  Two more D. plexippus  were seen.  Thermal had increased.
5 D. plexippus 9:49 150 m soar circle climb 305° - 146° 2.2 m/s - - - Butterfly started at 100 m and rapidly soared upward.  A thermal filled with sharp-shinned hawks passed through the field site.
