- - - - - - - - - - - - - - No migratory activity was seen at 7:00 or at 8:23 in open area next to the motel in Calhoun. One D. plexippus was seen at 8:30 during the drive to the airport.  Weather report indicated an approaching front.

I had set up for observations at the Calhoun airport.
36 D. plexippus 8:57 2 m flap straight level 265° left 152° 1.8 m/s - yes - Butterfly stayed at an altitdue of 2 m until it neared trees, then flew up and over.  Strong winds aloft were indicated by clouds drifting quickly across the sky from a S by W bearing.

Cloud layer appeared to be very low (i.e. a low ceiling).

306° 235° 143° 2.7 m/s - yes - Butterfly started at 10 m, flapped up to 12 m, soared in circles briefly, then soared straight.  Two more D. plexippus were also seen - one lower, and one higher.  Swifts were foraging.
