2018 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) at the USC Viterbi School of Engineering

This REU program allows talented students completing their Sophomore or Junior year the opportunity to spend summer break working alongside USC’s world-class faculty on cutting-edge research in engineering and computer science. Participants will gain valuable research experience and receive a stipend for living expenses in Los Angeles. Housing and transportation will also be provided.

Applicants to the Summer Research program should be outstanding undergraduate students in engineering or computer science who are currently of Sophomore or Junior standing and must be citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. or Canadian citizens. The deadline to apply for SURE 2017 is February 5, 2018.

The Hack Lab would like to present our lineup of events for the year including:


Dual Boot Linux Workshop, January 17th, 5-6 PM, Room DH2080

Need to dual boot Linux for CSC209? Want to dual boot in general? Come learn how to dual boot step-by-step.


Git Workshop, January 22, 5-7 PM, Room DH2020

Come learn the basics of Git!


iOS Workshop 1 on January 22 from 11-1 PM in CC3160 & iOS Workshop 2 on January 24 from 4-6 PM on CC3160

Learn the basics of iOS development. 

The lab accommodates up to 20 individuals, so the event is first come, first serve. We can host more if you bring your own laptops.

Both workshops are the same. There are two time slots to accommodate for courses.

Everyone attending the workshop must attend the setup on Wednesday, January 17th from 4-5 PM in CC3160 OR Thursday, January 18th from 4-5 PM in CC3160 in order to set up the programs on your own account.

Introduction to Machine Learning, January 25th, 4-6 PM Room DH2026

Explore reinforcement learning through a Tic-Tac-Toe AI that learns how to play the game from scratch. (This is beginner friendly! You only need a basic understanding of Git & Python).

Calling all Mechanical & Industrial Engineering MASc and PhD Students!

MASc and PhD applicants will:
