Technology & Communication LLC

About

Create connections with peers while building strong academic, practical and professional skills in the Technology & Communication LLC. In this multi-disciplinary residence community, students will have the opportunity to work with first-year peers and upper-year mentors in a project-based learning environment. Designed particularly for students with a passion for computer science and/or communication, culture & information technology, students will be provided with strength-based opportunities to develop and apply skills through specialized study groups, workshops and projects focused on small group learning. In collaboration with various departments and campus partners, students will be exposed to foundational ideas, concepts and experiences that are intended to help students navigate the increasingly tech-driven work environment.

The pedagogical approach taken to co-curricular learning and development within the Technology & Communication LLC ill be student-centered and highly experiential. This community is supported by a specially selected residence Peer Academic Leader (PAL) with such a background, and who understand the skills and experiences required to excel in the computational sciences. Utilizing a peer-facilitated approach within a shared living environment, this living-learning community will seek to engage students socially, intellectually and professionally in ways that promote an appreciation for the various ways in which one’s individual knowing is enhanced when other voices are involved in the learning experience.

In partnership with the Department of Mathematical and Computational Science & supported by a team of dedicated Residence staff, the Technology & Communication LLC is designed to expose students to the foundational ideas, concepts and experiences that are intended to help students navigate the increasingly tech-driven work environment.

Residence Placement

Students enrolled in the Technology & Communication LLC will be placed in Oscar Peterson Hall and all eligible candidates will be guaranteed Residence so long as they meet application and eligibility requirements. 

Eligibility

Students must be in their first year of study in the 2018-2019 academic year and must apply to Residence between February 20 - June 1, 2018. This LLC is designed particularly for students with a passion for computer science and/or communication, culture & information technolog. In order to remain eligible, students must maintain all residence eligibility requirements.

Cost

In addition to the cost of Residence, students living in the Technology & Communication LLC will be charged $200 to fund the various co-curricular programming initiatives for this specific community.
