A Season of Firsts: The Importance of Being Earnest
closes Theatre Erindale Season!

[Mississauga, March 2017] The final production of the Theatre Erindale 2016-2017 season is one of the world’s most beloved comedies, Oscar Wilde’s masterpiece The Importance of Being Earnest. The show runs March 16-26 at the Erindale Studio Theatre. This production marks both the final show of the senior class before graduation, and the swan song of former Artistic Director Patrick Young – retiring after 26 years.

Two young men who are no better than they should be juggle double lives with double identities. Then one steals the persona of the other behind his back, just when both have fallen in love. And standing in their way is the formidable Lady Bracknell – one of the most famous characters in the entire history of comedy. Chaos, of course, ensues! It’s an hilarious masquerade in which the wit skewers with precision the pomposities of all ages, including our own!

The glamourous period costumes are by Michelle Vanderheyden, set and lighting are by the inimitable Jim Smagata, and Sarah Scroggie and crew have taken care of paint and properties. Tom Schweitzer calls the shots as Stage Manager. And the performances of these fresh young actors are not to be missed!

The Importance of Being Earnest runs for 9 PERFORMANCES ONLY Thursday through Sunday for two weekends, March 16-19 and 24-26 at the Erindale Studio Theatre on the campus of the University of Toronto Mississauga. Single tickets are $12 or $18. Mississauga Transit Routes 44 and 110 will take you to the campus, and Parking in the CCT Garage is $6.00.
