1 Battus philenor 9:41 2 m flap straight level 250° - - - - - - Wingbeats of B. philenor (pipevine swallowtail) were more fluttery than usual.
2 Danaus plexippus 9:47 0.5 m flap variable level 168° - 345° 1.6 m/s - yes - Butterfly appeared old (i.e. faded and worn) - probably was not a migrant.   Swifts were foraging and vultures were soaring to 45 m.  A  Phoebis sennae (cloudless sulphur) was foraging.

Wind had become gusty - thermals were  developing.
4 D. plexippus 10:36 20 m flap straight climb 210° - 347° 2.3 m/s - - - The D. plexippus also appeared  old.  It was chased by a Junonia coenia (common buckeye).  WW:  Radar detected a few low targets that did not show a consistent pattern of orientation.

A dragonfly with two common names -  jagged-edged saddleba and black. saddlebag.   A P. sennae also flew past.
