UTM Annual Research Prize Symposium

The UTM Annual Research Prizes were established by the Office of the Vice-Principal, Research and UTM’s Research Council in 2016 to recognize outstanding contributions of early career researchers and scholars in the Humanities, Sciences and Social Sciences.

The recipients for the 2019 Annual Research Prizes at
U of T Mississauga are the following:

 

UTM ANNUAL RESEARCH PRIZE IN THE HUMANITIES

Professor Julie MacArthur from the Department of Historical Studies was selected as this year's recipient for the UTM Annual Research Prize in the Humanities for her outstanding contributions to her field in the areas of the role of cartography and geographic imaginations, borders and local practices of space, memory and representation in modern Africa. 
 

UTM ANNUAL RESEARCH PRIZE IN THE SCIENCES

Professor Matthew Adams from the Department of Geography was selected as this year’s recipient for the UTM Annual Research Prize in the Sciences for his outstanding contributions to his field in the area of human exposure to environmental pollutants. 
 

UTM ANNUAL RESEARCH PRIZE IN THE SOCIAL SCIENCES

Professor Sarah Hillewaert from the Department of Anthropology was selected as this year's recipient for the UTM Annual Research Prize in the Social Sciences for her outstanding contributions to her field in the areas of how young people negotiate social relations and positions in contexts of social change and globalization.
 


All three of the 2019 UTM Annual Research Prize Recipients are being celebrated at a Research Prize Symposium in their honour.
