Grant-Writing Cohort Program
Call for faculty participation - see below!
The Office of the VP Research (OVPR) is organizing a cohort system for faculty members writing SSHRC Insight Grant and NSERC Discovery Grant applications over the summer of 2022. The goal of this initiative is to help you write a full draft of a grant proposal by the end of August, providing you with about 4 weeks to get peer feedback, revise the draft, and submit the proposal for the internal U of T deadlines.
To support you, we will organize faculty into cohorts of 3-5 people, provide milestones for a recommended timeline for completion, and support you with monthly plenaries over the summer. Additionally, we will facilitate securing a peer reader to review a draft of your grant. By August 30th grant writers will have a completed draft that they can share with a reader in their field for feedback, with time for revisions before the U of T internal deadlines for tri-agency grants.
We’ll kick things off with a June plenary to meet your cohort members, offer targeted, agency specific grant-writing workshops, and invite you to participate in the CDRS co-working series for faculty members looking for a dedicated time to write in a collaborative, virtual environment (Tuesdays-Fridays 9-11am). July’s plenary will focus on research data management (RDM) and knowledge mobilization; and August’s plenary will tackle budgets.
Those submitting a CIHR Project Grant will also be invited to participate in a series of workshops and a grant review panel offered by the Faculty of Arts and Science. Please contact email@example.com if you are interested in the CIHR grant workshops.
If you have applied previously for a tri-agency grant and were unsuccessful, please let us help. With your permission and guidance, we will reach out to an appropriate reader for your unsuccessful application and help create an opportunity for feedback in June-June 2022.
