Jeff EspieDirector of Office Communications & issues management; strategic planning; stakeholder relations; process improvement
Over the past ten years, Jeff Espie has worked at the intersection of university research, teaching, and administration. After earning an MSt from Oxford and PhD from Toronto, Jeff completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of British Columbia and held teaching positions at Kenyon College, UTSG, and UTM. Concurrently, in winning institutional and international awards for research and teaching excellence, he developed a consulting practice as an academic and administrative manager, in which capacity he supported the publication of over fifty refereed articles, eight books, and several university strategic plans.
Most recently, since 2020, Jeff has applied his research, writing, and consulting experience in UTM’s Office of the Vice-President and Principal, where he has helped shape the campus’s communications, vision, and COVID-19 response, most prominently as a founder of the THP UTM Vaccine Clinic. As Director of Office, Jeff works as the VP&P’s primary point of contact, driving the creation and implementation of campus-wide priorities; writing speeches, presentations, and executive-level documents for university and public circulation; and supporting institutional response to critical incidents and high-profile issues.
