Farewell UTM, and thank you for six wonderful years!

Tomorrow will be my last official day at UTM. After six years and two months in the service of this remarkable institution, I will be signing off and passing the baton to Professor Ulli Krull.

Come Celebrate UTM’s Positive Space

In just a few hours – from 5:30 to 7:30 to be precise – we will gather at the Blind Duck Pub to celebrate this year’s Positive Space Gala.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the University of Toronto’s Positive Space Campaign. It was started in 1996 by a small group of dedicated individuals who wanted to increase visibility and support for LGBTQ students, staff, and faculty across all three campuses.

Someone asked me last week for one thing that I liked the most about UTM. There are a lot of things I love about our campus, and I was conscious that picking one in particular may well land me in some trouble. However, without hesitation, I said “the quality of our students”. By that I didn’t mean simply the marks that our students arrive with or how well they do academically once they are here. There’s a whole lot more to their “quality”. Read on…
