Call for nominations for UTM’s sixtieth anniversary steering committee
Dear colleagues,
In 2027, alongside U of T’s bi-centennial, UTM will recognize sixty years since our foundation as Erindale College. To coordinate activities for this campus anniversary, I plan to create a steering committee, which will meet regularly starting in early 2026, with a time commitment of three hours per month.
Nominations, including self-nominations, for faculty, staff, librarians, students, and alumni to serve on this committee are warmly welcome before 5pm on 30 January 2026 using this form. The form will prompt you to please share two sentences summarizing how your nominee’s experience positions them to contribute to this committee’s work.
The committee will, among other things:
- Develop goals, plans, and initiatives to mark UTM’s sixtieth anniversary, as aligned with priorities of our strategic framework and U of T’s commitment to excellence in teaching and research.
- Consult broadly, and shape anniversary plans with, other students, faculty, librarians, staff, alumni, and community members, including Indigenous Nations.
- Learn from, and build on, anniversary plans developed previously, including for the sixtieth anniversary at UTSC and fiftieth anniversary at UTM.
- Consider creating a series of working groups, with area-specific expertise, to implement UTM’s anniversary plans through initiatives in, e.g., teaching, communications, and student engagement.
- Liaise with U of T’s bi-centennial committees, seeking opportunities to implement, amplify, and extend tri-campus anniversary initiatives.
- Report consistently on steering committee progress to UTM’s community, including in a public presentation to campus council in fall 2026.
I look forward reviewing nominations on 30 January and beginning meetings with this committee shortly after that. Meanwhile, feel free to reach out to Heather Hines with questions: heather.hines@utoronto.ca.
Best,
Alex
