On 7 May, we invited nominations for members to serve on the advisory committee for the appointment of UTM’s chief librarian. Many thanks to those who recommended their colleagues and volunteered themselves. In accordance with U of T’s policies for librarians, the following committee has now been appointed:

Chief Librarian Search - U of T Mississauga

Dear colleagues,

Dany Savard’s appointment as interim chief librarian at the University of Toronto Mississauga ends on 30 September 2024. The position is a senior library administrator under of U of T’s Policies for Librarians.

In accordance with these policies, we will convene a committee to advise on the search to fill this position on a continuing basis. As university chief librarian and acting vice-president and principal, we will chair this committee together, which, alongside us, will have a minimum membership as follows:

  • one member of the teaching staff from UTM 
  • one Associate University Librarian
  • one Library Department Head
  • four librarians, at least three of whom will have permanent status positions in U of T Libraries
  • three individuals who are not librarians

We welcome nominations to serve on the committee, including self-nominations.

If you are interested in serving or wish to nominate a colleague, please send your nominations to the university chief librarian's executive assistant, Lesley Falkner, by 21 May 2024: lesley.falkner@utoronto.ca. Please include "UTM Chief Librarian Consultative Committee Nomination" in the subject line, specifying the membership category as listed above. Lesley will compile the nominations for our review.
