To share inspiring images of the campus during its 50th anniversary year, UTM has named alumnus Arjun Yadav (HBA 2016, Communication, Culture, Information and Technology) as its Photographer Laureate. The honorary position recognizes Arjun’s social media expertise paired with his photographer’s eye for UTM’s unique blend of natural beauty, inspiring architecture and diverse character; he’s a particular fan and friend of UTM’s resident deer population. As Photographer Laureate, his creative work will serve as a visual ambassador for the campus in its anniversary media.

Arjun arrived at UTM as an international student from Lucknow, India, lived several years in residences on campus (and still lives nearby), and says he discovered and continues to find inspiration in the unique setting and wildlife on campus. His interest in photography started through an initial exposure to an aerial drone project with UTM instructor W. Tim G. Richardson. Arjun went on to co-launch the UTM Photography Club prior to his graduation.

Arjun’s Instagram stream, @arjsun, also features cityscapes, street scenes locally and abroad, and aerial and other landscape photography.

To spread knowledge of the campus's beauty, UTM's social media community is encouraged to like and share his work, and Arjun himself hopes his work inspires fellow alumni and current students to share their own great images from UTM through social media, tagged with #UTM50          .
