  1. Why is UTM holding a 50th Anniversary Gala?

    At the Gala, UTM will be marking 50 years of extraordinary achievements, our vital role as a leader and innovator in city-building and our exciting future plans. In addition, we will be welcoming our new Vice-President & Principal, Professor Ulrich Krull. We are also hoping the Gala will serve as a reunion for many of our alumni.

  2. Where is it being held?

    The Gala is being held at the Four Seasons Hotel, 60 Yorkville Avenue, Toronto.

  3. Who can attend the Gala?

    Alumni, community supporters, faculty and staff (current and retired) and students will be in attendance.

  4. What can I expect at the Gala?

    There will be a cocktail reception, three-course dinner, speeches, entertainment and dancing.

  5. Will there be a host or cash bar?

    There will be a host bar.

  6. Is black tie mandatory?

    Since this is an anniversary celebration and signature event for UTM, we hope that our guests will come formally attired for the occasion.

  7. Are there overnight accommodations available?

    Yes. If you wish to stay at the Four Seasons, there is a block rate for a limited number of rooms for UTM guests. To reserve a room, please call 1 (844) 501-8798 or email, and quote the block name “University of Toronto Mississauga Alumni Gala Guestroom.”

  8. Is there parking near the venue?

    There is a “Green P” lot directly across the street from the hotel’s main entrance on Yorkville Avenue. There is another “Green P” lot at 74 Yorkville Avenue (between Bay Street and Hazelton Avenue). The Four Seasons Hotel also offers valet parking for a fee.

  9. Are parking fees covered by the ticket price?

    No. The ticket price does not cover parking fees.

  10. How much do tickets cost?

    Individual tickets (early bird, until Oct. 12) cost $285. Individual tickets (after Oct. 12) cost $340. A table of 8 (early bird, until Oct. 12) costs $2,275. A table of 8 (after Oct. 12) costs $2,700. All ticket prices include HST.

  11. How can I arrange to sit at a table of former classmates?

    On the ticket registration form, please indicate (in the Comments section) the names of the guests with whom you would like to sit. We will follow up with you to make the necessary arrangements.

  12. Will I be able to see who from my class is attending?

    Yes, if your classmates give us their permission to display their names on our 50th Anniversary Gala website. (On the ticket registration form, there is a box asking for this permission.)

  13. How can I find out if any of my former professors will be attending?

    If former professors give us their permission to display their names on our 50th Anniversary Gala website, you can easily check. (On the ticket registration form, there is a box asking for this permission). Alternately, if you don’t see the name of a former faculty member and have access to his/her email, feel free to contact him/her directly.

  14. Will food allergies/dietary needs be accommodated?

    Yes. On the ticket registration form, please indicate (in the Dietary Restrictions section) any food allergies or dietary needs.

  15. If I buy a ticket and am not able to use it, can I get a refund?

    No, there will not be ticket refunds.

  16. Are tickets transferable?

    Yes, but we will want to ensure that we have the correct name and contact information for the person to whom the tickets are transferred. If you are transferring your ticket, please contact us at:

  17. Can I get a tax receipt?

    No. The 50th Anniversary Gala is not a fundraising event so no tax receipts will be issued.

  18. When will the Gala wrap up?

    We expect the evening will draw to a close around 11 or 11:30 p.m. The formal program will wrap up around 9:30 or 10 p.m. Dancing will continue past 10 p.m.
