Ulli KrullCelebrating a campus, welcoming a leader

This year marks a significant milestone for the University of Toronto Mississauga – our 50th anniversary.

Throughout 2017, we have found many ways to honour our illustrious past and look forward to a promising future. Our 50th Anniversary Gala offers us yet another opportunity to celebrate the exciting new chapter that lies ahead of us.

The story of Erindale College began in 1967, when the doors of Erindale College’s single academic building opened to 155 students, 28 faculty and 40 staff members. Jump forward five decades—and U of T Mississauga has been transformed, and is now the second-largest division of the University of Toronto. UTM is now home to 13,500 undergraduate students, 600 graduate students, over 2,500 full- and part-time employees, with a global family of 54,000 alumni—yet it retains its unique sense of community.

This year also marks a new beginning: the appointment of Professor Ulrich Krull as Vice-President & Principal of the University of Toronto Mississauga. His three-year term began July 1, 2017. A professor of analytical chemistry, Krull holds the AstraZeneca Chair in Biotechnology, and is recognized as one of the leading analytical chemists in Canada.

Over his career, he has served in a number of academic administrative roles at UTM: Vice-Principal, Special Initiatives; Associate Dean of Sciences; Vice-Dean, Graduate; and Vice-Principal, Research. Krull is also an active member of the community, both locally and internationally. Currently, he serves on the Board of Directors of the Research Innovation Commercialization Centre, and as a member of the Mississauga Innovation and Entrepreneurship Committee at the invitation of Mississauga mayor Bonnie Crombie.

The Gala promises to be and exciting night--we hope you will join us at this marquee event for the 50th Anniversary. Book your ticket or table now!
