The CSE Second-Year Supports Team:
Year 2+ Monthly Meetings


Year 2+: Second Year Social Connection

Year 2+ is a skills development program for second-year students based in the Centre for Student Engagement. The program consists of:

  • Completing of a workshop set that supports skill development; and
  • Participating in recurring group meetings over the course of a term that support skill practice and social connection

The program aims to respond to the diverse life experiences and goals of second-year students, and foster second-year student life and identity at UTM.

Our group meetings and topics for the Fall semester are as follows:

  • Common Ground (Social Identity Growth) - interested in current world events/issues? Join this recurring meeting for some facilitated conversations, and get to know different perspectives from your peers! (always taking place at 3:30pm - 4:30pm at the following dates, in MN 5128)

    • Tuesday October 4
    • Tuesday October 25
    • Tuesday November 15
    • Tuesday November 29
       
  • Hot Topics (Healthy and Productive Communication) - A debate/dialogue-style recurring meeting, around a current student life topic! (always taking place from 11:30am - 12:30pm at the following dates, in MN 5128)

    • Thursday September 29
    • Thursday October 27
    • Thursday November 17
    • Thursday December 1
  • Buddy System (Navigating Challenge) - looking for "accountability buddies" to support each other in resolving challenges that everyone might be facing? Bring a current professional, academic, and/or personal challenge that you are facing, and work with peers to arrive at a plan to navigate challenge! (always takes place from 12:30pm - 1:30pm at the following dates, in MN 5128)

UTM Student Groups

Visit the CSE Student Groups website, or the UTM Student Union clubs and societies website to find and stay updated on student groups at UTM! Yuu can search for various student groups, discover their programming for this academic year, and connect with the groups directly. 


Interfaith

At UTM, we want all students to feel comfortable and supported when practicing their faith. Our Interfaith programming allows students opportunities to explore their faith, learn about faith related supports and resources, learn about ways to participate in faith-based student groups, and learn about our campus faith spaces.

Leadership & Mentorship Programs

The Centre for Student Engagement offers several leadership and mentorship programs to upper-year students!
