Parent & Family Orientation is a program designed for parents and families of incoming UTM students to learn about life at UTM. 

Get the information you need to be the best support for your student during their transition to university!

Orientation sessions focus on academic expectations and skill development, course registration, student engagement, student wellness, campus resources and other topics related to the university experience. At the Parent & Family Orientation you will be introduced to the UTM community including students, staff and faculty members. This year, Parent and Family Orientation will be held in-person with online streaming options available for families unable to attend in-person. 


Parent & Family Orientation 2022 Schedule

The UTM Parent and Family Orientation 2022 took place in September 3rd, 2022. It included a series of informative sessions designed to orient parents and families to UTM resources, policies, programs and expectations. 

Parent and Family Orientation (2 sessions available)

Morning Session    10:00am - 1:00pm 
Afternoon Session  3:00pm - 6:00pm

Receive an official welcome to the UTM community! Through engaging sessions you will learn about academic expectations, campus resources, and effective strategies for supporting your UTM student. Online streaming options are available for both session times (please attend only 1). Themed presentations include:

  • Supporting your University Student

During this time, you are invited to select from a variety of opportunities to engage with and learn from. Programming includes:

Family Discussion Series

The Family Discussion Series provides you an opportunity to connect with a specific community at UTM. Through these engaging conversations, you will gain more information on a specific topic of interest to your family. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions to a team of panelists comprised of students, staff, and faculty.
