We are so excited to welcome you to the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM), home of the Eagles!

EagleOrientation (formerly known as O-Week) is one of your first opportunities to become more familiar with your new campus; to connect with faculty, staff and other students, and discover all the resources, supports, and activities available to you.

Save the dates! This year EagleOrientation will be running virtual events in:

  • August (August 16th - 18th)

EagleOrientation September events

We’re excited to welcome you to our final month of orientation programming!

September EagleOrientation will be running from September 8th-10th, 2021 and will be filled with fun social events including virtual “Hangout” socials that will allow students to interact with other new-to-UTM students through "Speed-Friending" sessions and "This or That" activities. There will also be in-person guided Campus Tours to give students a chance to explore the beautiful UTM Campus while connecting with others.

Event Descriptions

Hangouts - these will be virtual opportunities for you to interact with other incoming first-year students through many fun games and speed-friending events that we have planned for you! Don’t miss this opportunity to make some new friends before classes officially begin! We encourage you to attend as many as you can, to make as many new friends as possible!
Location: Zoom (link will be emailed to you)

Campus Tours - these will be in-person opportunities for you to visit UTM and receive a guided tour from our student leaders on all that this wonderful campus has to offer! Note that these tours have a limited capacity and will therefore have first come first serve registration. Lastly, we will need you to follow all the Covid-19 protocols while you’re visiting campus.
Location: UTM Campus (detailed instructions will be emailed to you)

EagleOrientation - July 

Missed out on July EagleOrientation?
Don’t worry! All asynchronous material from the events are available on your EagleConnect Quercus Community. Just look for your Squad’s EagleOrientation page, which is linked on your EagleConnect home page!

For July, we are offering three activites bundled together into one two and a half hour experience! Chat with upper year students, faculty and academic advisors - your peers will share more about how they engage at UTM outside the classroom, faculty will share some insight about your experience inside the classroom while academic advisors will host a "Course Enrollment FAQ Check-In" to answer your questions about enrolling into your classes. 

This bundle will be offered in the morning, afternoon and evening from July 12th to 20th. To select a session time, please check out your Eagle Squad / EagleConnect Community the week of June 28th. 

 

EagleOrientation - August

Missed out on August EagleOrientation?
Don’t worry! All asynchronous material from the event will still be available on the EagleOrientation Acadiate, and will be available until later in the fall. Make sure to check out the Involvement and Resource fair’s page, which will have a lot of asynchronous material to browse and explore!

For August orientation, there is no registration! All students will be e-mailed an invitation to join our virtual events which will be hosted on an Acadiate platform utilizing Zoom and Microsoft Live. If you require accommodation(s) to participate, please e-mail orientation.utm@utoronto.ca

Event Descriptions

Eagle Squad Huddles: Prepare for the day's events by meeting with EagleSquad leaders. Explore August Eagle Orientation’s virtual platforms and  engage in fun activities with your Eagle Squad! 

Principle Welcome and Keynote: This will be your official welcome to UTM! Get to hear from UTM’s principal Alexandra Gillespie, as well as from a guest keynote speaker who will give you some insight to succeed in university. 

UTM Involvement and Resource Fair: Choose your own adventure as you go between virtual tables, seeing what UTM has to offer you! This includes clubs you can join and the resources available to you throughout your UTM journey! 

Academic Department Orientations: This is your first opportunity to interact with specific academic departments. 

Who am I? Exploring Identities and Meaningful Inclusion at UTM: This insightful workshop, brought to you by UTM’s own Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Office, will provide you with a deeper understanding of your identity, and how this identity will relate to your UTM experience. 

Eagle Squad Orientation Q&A: An opportunity to drop in and ask any lingering questions you have after your August EagleOrientation experience.  


This experience is approved on the co-curricular record!

Get a Co-Curricular Record notation for participating in EagleOrientation!

Your CCR (Co-Curricular Record) is an official UofT document, marking your co-curricular involvement on campus in a variety of different areas. The CCR record can be used as a piece of your resume, helping you gain access to application-required clubs, on or off campus jobs, and more. CCR Recognition for EagleOrientation will show your eagerness to get involved in the campus as soon as possible and will surely impress those who see it on your CCR!

Did you attend July and August EagleOrientation? Get CCR recognition for them now!

To obtain CCR for Summer EagleOrientation, you will have to have done two things:

  1. Attended 5 of 7 sessions across July and August
  2. Fill out the reflection survey, which is linked here!

Filling out the survey will also enter you in a chance to win a $25 UofT bookstore gift card!

To get CCR for September EagleOrientation:

1. You need to attend 2 of 6 events (either 2 hangouts or 1 hangout and 1 campus tour)
