Student Group Awards

The Centre for Student Engagement offers a number of awards for Ulife-recognized student groups on the UTM campus. To learn more about the descriptions, eligibility, and selection criteria for the 2021-2022 awards, please click the title of each award below. These awards recognize the outstanding work that UTM student leaders are doing as a part of their roles in student groups on campus as well as their impact to the UTM Community. 

Applications for the current academic year are now open. The deadline is Friday February 18th, 2022, at 11:59 pm. 


How to Apply

A complete awards submission package consists of an applicant form and a referee form. 

For the award(s) you're applying to, please fill in the appropriate application form from the list below and e-mail your referee the referee form (with the first page completed):

Referees must e-mail the complete Award Submissions Package as email attachments to studentawards.utm@utoronto.ca by 11:59 PM (EST) on Friday February 18, 2022. No late, incomplete, or paper applications will be accepted.

As UTM’s largest academic society, IBA helps to shape students of today into the business leaders of tomorrow by hosting numerous case competitions, educational workshops, and networking events throughout the year. In 2020-2021, IBA’s initiatives included hosting the first online case competition at UTM, running a mentorship program with both undergraduate and alumni mentors, successfully hosting the annual Women in Business conference, launching a new biweekly business podcast, and running charity fundraisers.

PAUSE is a team of passionate undergraduate students studying many avenues of Psychology. This year, PAUSE aimed to facilitate meaningful connections between peers, staff and faculty alike. Through the various events and programs held throughout the year, PAUSE was able to create an atmosphere of learning and connection.

SAGE is proud this past year to have been a key connector between students both in and out of the Department of Geography, Geomatics, and Environment, with faculty, other student groups, and external organizations, to foster a supportive, positive community.

Collaboration to ICCIT Council

ICCIT Council has been working hard this year to ensure successful delivery of informative and fun events that would bring the students an opportunity to learn and grow. They have organized several events and projects, including their Meet and Greet series, Careers in Communications & Marketing Networking Night, the ICCIT Virtual Town Hall, a Creative Case Competition - and many more.

Equity and Inclusion to Best Buddies

The UTM Best Buddies team is most proud of their accomplishment for being able to bring joy and a sense of community to all during unprecedented times. Despite the current situation and isolation from one another, the team continues to foster an open community for the benefit of all, regardless of one's differences.

The support that UTM Psych Talks received from students and faculty in the form of collaborations, conversations, and collective initiative is to what this award is owed. This year saw incredible growth and demand for wellness from students; demands still unmet but demonstrated to be achievable by the empathy and understanding behind a collective student voice.
