The Research Opportunity Program (ROP)...What is it?

  • The ROP gives you the chance to work closely with a professor on their research project; and offers the ability to acquire valuable research experience.

  • By participating in a research project you gain practical skills and knowledge that can be applied to careers after graduation or toward future graduate studies.

  • You will earn one full course credit by participating in a research project through the ROP.

  • There is a broad range of disciplines represented in this program; from Psychology to Classics; Biology to Economics - there is something for everyone!

...discover the possibilities...

  • You will be notified by email whether you have been invited to participate in an ROP project. If you have been invited, you will be required to sign the Research Opportunity Program Contract with the instructor leading the project.  NOTE: you may only select ONE project per semester.

  • ROP projects normally require working eight to ten hours per week on the research project.  Students are expected to complete an interim two page report and substantial pieces of written work towards the end of the course.

  • Be sure to check the ROP Course Prerequisites page prior to applying.

For more information about the ROP: contact the Office of the Registrar or the ROP Coordinator.
