Our Services

Students in a classroom

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic:

Students are encouraged to send an email to ask.utmregistrar@utoronto.ca to request an online academic or financial aid appointment. Please email through your U of T email address and include the following information:

1)  Subject line: Advising - Online Appointment Request

2) Your U of T student number

3)  A brief description of your question/concern (how can we help you during your appointment?)

3)  The name of your preferred advisor that you would like to speak to. If you do not have a preferred advisor, and would simply like the next available appointment, please make note of this for us.

List up to three possible dates and times for your appointment that can be scheduled during our office hours.

5) Do you want an online appointment via Zoom or over the phone? Please include your phone number to complete your booking.
Please note that you will need an internet connection, a working microphone and speaker for online Zoom appointments.

Students may also call the office at 905-828-5399 for support.

What to Expect When You Visit

Wherever possible, we recommend that you visit us before 12pm as walk-in appointments are first-come, first-serve.

A limited number of walk-in appointments are available each day, and may become full before we close. This ensures that each student with a confirmed appointment can be accommodated by the time we close.

Here's what you can expect when you arrive at the Office of the Registrar:

  1. You will be greeted by our knowledgeable and friendly Student Success Assistants at our Express Desk as early at 8:50 am. In many cases, they can answer your general questions quickly to help you maximize the rest of your day. They will also ask you follow-up questions to ensure that you see the right staff member inside the Office of the Registrar. Appointments begin at 9 am.
  2. For general support, you will meet with a Student Success Representative from the Front-Line team. You will be placed in the queue until your number is called.
  3. For specialized academic support (course/program/academic planning), you will receive a pre-booked 15 minute appointment with an Academic Advisor. An email will be sent to you confirming the details of your upcoming appointment. Learn more.
  4. For most financial aid inquiries, you will receive a 15 minute walk-in appointment with a Financial Aid Advisor. You will be placed in the queue until your number is called.

Booking an Academic or Financial Aid Advising Appointment

Making an appointment (in-person)

  1. Chat with our staff at the Express Desk to help us understand the reason for your visit.
  2. Choose your preferred appointment time and/or advisor.
  3. Check-in or cancel online to manage your appointment.

  • Bookings will begin as early at 8:50 am in person.
  • Appointments are 15 minutes in duration. The earliest appointments begin at 9 am.
  • Once you book your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with a special link to help you manage your appointment with ease. This means you can check-in to let your advisor know that you're ready to be seen, or cancel your appointment directly from your phone. A self-serve computer station will also be available at our Express Desk for you to manage your appointment without lining up again.
  • Appointments will be reserved for up to 5 minutes after your appointment time begins before it is cancelled. Late arrivals may not be accommodated.

In order to provide you, and all students with the best experience, we hope that you will work with us by arriving early for your appointment, or cancelling as soon as you can. As appointments are first-come, first-serve, reducing the amount of no-shows will give us the opportunity to see as many students as we can each day.

Academic advising appointments are one of the most in-demand services at the Office of the Registrar, and we are always looking for ways to improve your experience. Please be sure to let us know how we are doing!

We look forward to seeing you in the Office of the Registrar!
