Blaise’s research explores how foodways intersect with resource availability and biocultural factors using microbotanical proxies. His previous work aimed at uncovering vegetal diet, and culinary cultural exchanges among colonists in Montreal using dental calculus micro-remain analysis.
His project focuses of advancing the identification of culinary practices employed in deep past contexts by improving the understanding of starch spherulites. By gaining a deeper insight into this novel proxy and its theorical framework, he aims to facilitate the development of new line of inquiry in both emerging and established research contexts.
