Dr. Chance Finegan holds a PhD in environmental studies from York University. His work considers how settler institutions, particularly parks and protected areas, can advance Indigenous visions for the future. What role do parks play in nation-building and contemporary expressions of settler power? How are park staff responding to Indigenous resurgence, and how should they? Such questions animate his research. Dr. Finegan works on both sides of the US/Canada border, and has conducted research in partnership with the Chinook Indian Nation and Meewasin Valley Authority.
