Raised in the Middle East to Pakistani-Indian parents, Fatima moved to Canada to pursue her university education and graduated with a Honours BSc in Environmental Sciences and Health Sciences from University of Toronto. Here, she learned about the pressing issues in the world regarding development, environment & social justice and got interested in sustainability. Hence, she pursued Masters of Sustainability Management where she felt as if she found her lifes' calling. Along with her university graduate studies, she also became accredited as a LEED Green Associate.

Thus far, she has a myriad of experiences under her belt in the field of sustainability, ranging from not-for-profit, municipal, as well as corporate levels. Just recently, she completed her co-op position at a London-based startup and sustainable technology development firm called CENNATEK, where she worked as Business Development & Marketing Intern. She has also been hired as University of Toronto Mississauga's newest Let's Talk Science Coordinator, to help youth to learn about sustainability issues from their classrooms and is also a Teaching Assistant for the undergraduate level course in Sustainability called The Sustainability Imperative.

Additionally, early in the summer, Fatima embarked on a life-changing experience to Guatemala with a team of students to understand the fairness in fair trade coffee, where she lived with farmers who were previously guerilla fighters in the 40 year long Civil War in the country. This allowed her the opportunity to see first-hand the contrast in sustainabilty between developing and devleoped countries – a truly meaningful experience.

Along with her global perspective and passion for sustainability, she is an award-winning watercolorist and runs her own art initiative, Fatima Fasih Watercolors, which she has utilized to not only gain some income but also raise awareness about sustainability issues in the developed and developing world and many social justice issues occurring globally. She has been recognized for her work in many local and international publications.

With many things to balance in her life, Fatima finds a cup of tea, a good book and playing with her two kittens at the end of the day the most relaxing.
