Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Envrionmental Science • University of Guelph
Nigel completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph in 2014 in Environmental Sciences, with a major in Natural Resource Management. He completed an additional postgraduate certificate at the University of Guelph in Environmental Conservation in 2016. Nigel has always been passionate about the environment and nature – and seeks to drive institutional change through creating a society where progress means doing all that we can to take care of our planet for future generations. He wishes to take the next step in his career development through the MScSM Program.
For the past five years, Nigel has worked in a diverse range of environmental roles, involving management, research, regulatory compliance, communications, outreach and policy advocacy. He has worked for the Ontario Ministry of the Environment as an analyst and enforcement officer, ensuring business and industry compliance to environmental regulations. Nigel has also worked for the Toronto Environmental Alliance as a field manager, where his roles included coaching a team of fundraisers, performing outreach, and leading strategic canvass program development. Through this work, he has also driven community support for Toronto’s climate action plan TransformTO, the banning of single-use plastics, and stronger protections for Ontario’s Greenbelt.
Nigel is also the founder of the RISE Wealth Collective, a program in Scarborough that teaches low-income youth the basics about financial literacy and how to budget, save and invest for the future.
Outside of his work, Nigel enjoys travelling, hiking, photography, biking, playing sports, cooking, live performance arts, improv, comedy, and hip hop music.
