Bachelor of Science (Hons.), Zoology and Ecology • University of Guelph
Hannah graduated from the University of Guelph in 2021 with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Zoology and a minor in Ecology. During her undergraduate studies, she completed independent research projects in both plant and animal ecology, which deepened her passion for ecological research and its applications. Hannah has strong interests in ecological and environmental science research, science communication, environmental policy, and sustainability in business.
As an undergraduate student, Hannah spent her summers working as a research assistant in an entomolgy lab at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC). During her time with AAFC, Hannah worked directly on projects aimed at reducing insect damage to grape crops. This experience gave her an understanding of the importance of the timely dissemination and application of scientific results to business practices for the benefit of both businesses and ecosystems. Hannah has also spent a substantial amount of time volunteering as the president of My World, My Choice Ontario, an environmental mentorship program. Through this volunteer work, she taught elementary school students about environmental science and helped them to develop their own sustainability initiatives. In addition, during the 2020-2021 school year, Hannah directed the design and launch of an online nationwide contest for high school and post-secondary students called Canada’s Next Top Sustainability Leader.
Hannah has always been drawn to environmental and social justice issues, and is further exploring her interests in science communication, business and policy, environmental science, and social justice during her time in the MScSM program. During her free time, Hannah enjoys spending time outdoors, practicing yoga, and reading. She spent a year attending school in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, and continually seeks opportunities to travel and explore new places, both close to home and abroad.
