Bachelor of Science (Hons.), Environmental Biology • Queen's University
Hailey Knox graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science, Specializing in Environmental Biology in 2021. During her time at Queens, Hailey took a variety of courses in conservation biology, resource ecology, chemistry, environmental economics, and statistics. She also studied abroad during her third year at the University of Liverpool where she was able to take a marine biology field course, allowing her to gain valuable technical skills through active laboratory experience. Throughout her studies and club involvement, Hailey developed a keen interest in wildlife conservation, sustainable supply chains, regenerative agriculture, and food sovereignty. She is passionate about solving issues surrounding the inequality and injustice of food insecurity and waste worldwide.
Throughout Hailey’s undergrad, she was involved with various extracurriculars, and volunteer positions related to sustainability. A particular extracurricular that inspired Hailey to pursue a career in sustainability management was Queen’s Soul Food; a student-run, non-profit organization that delivers unserved food from campus cafeterias to local homeless shelters every night. This past year as Co-Chair, Hailey and her team were able to rescue over 7250 pounds of food waste while alleviating food insecurity within the Kingston community.
Since graduating, Hailey has been working for Robertson James Development Group as an administrative assistant gaining valuable experience learning about real estate property management and sustainable development options. Additionally, Hailey’s previous summer internship with Concentric Associates International Incorporated allowed her to experience practical and analytical client-based environmental consulting through the field of engineering.
In her spare time, Hailey enjoys being outdoors alongside nature, and spending time with family and friends. She often spends her free time partaking in outdoor activities such as, hiking, camping, swimming, biking, and beach volleyball. She also enjoys seeking new adventure through travelling and exploring local farmer’s markets.
