Bio

Tyra graduated from the University of Guelph in 2022 with a Bachelors of Engineering majoring in Environmental Engineering and minoring in Business. During her studies, Tyra completed a variety of group and independent projects that focused on topics such as wastewater treatment design, waste management, product life cycle analysis, and engineering design. Through the completion of her undergraduate studies, Tyra has developed a keen interest in topics such as sustainable development, resource conservation, environmental justice, and business sustainability.

During the summers, Tyra has spent her time working in a variety of different roles. Most notably, she spent the summer of 2021 working at Graham Construction as a Student Project Coordinator. This role helped to introduce Tyra into the “green” construction industry and exposed her to the real-life applications of concepts she had previously only explored academically. More recently, Tyra completed a 4-month term at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities as a Sustainability Working Group Fellow. As a fellow, Tyra helped to critically assess FCM’s internal sustainability efforts and helped to facilitate open communication between employees and the executive team on how the company can further develop their office wide sustainability efforts. Additionally, Tyra co-led a fellow project that critically assessed Canadian youth engagement and its relation to equitable access to green space in over 35 Canadian municipalities.

In her day-to-day life Tyra tries to lead by example by living a sustainable life. In order to achieve this, Tyra engages in conscious consumerism and enjoys a vegetarian diet. Outside of work and school, Tyra enjoys playing rugby, soccer, and softball. She also enjoys cooking for her family and reading anything that she can get her hands on.
