Students of the week #5
Jia Ying (Sandy) Wang
Sandy completed a 4 year undergraduate degree in only three years and achieved a double major in psychology and cognitive science. She balanced her studies with volunteering at local hospitals and organizing mental health info sessions and group therapy sessions for students with anxiety.
Sandy’s various lab and community experiences have allowed her to develop strong communication, research and problem solving skills. She enjoys photography, photo editing and managing her own personal blog in her spare time.
Louis completed his undergraduate studies at McGill University and was involved in neuropharmacology research. This past summer, he worked one-on-one with COVID-19 patients as a service aide in a retirement home. Louis is highly driven and motivated. He hopes to work in the pharmaceutical industry and contribute to the development and marketing of new drugs and therapeutics.
During her time at the University of Guelph, Taman developed strong research, critical thinking and problem solving skills. She has worked in several Occupational Health and Cognitive Neuroscience research labs allowing her to gain valuable analytical and communication abilities. After completing the MMI program, Taman hopes to pursue a career in the emerging health technology sector.
Outside of school and work, Taman enjoys reading, dancing and trying new restaurants.
