MBiotech: Biopharmaceuticals Stream
MBiotech's Biopharma specialization is a 2-year, full-time program comprised of required coursework and an internship placement in industry (no part time option is offered). Students complete 8 months of full-time study on the UTM campus, after which they are available to commence 8-12 months of mandatory, paid industry internships. Our industry partners are world leaders, including Amgen, AstraZeneca, GlaxoSmithKline, Roche, Sanofi Pasteur and many others. See a list of our internship partners. During the internship placement, final upper-year courses are completed; all are offered as evening classes to allow for continuity between the internship experience and full-time employment (many students stream directly from their co-op position to full-time employ).
In addition to the paid internship, you will have the opportunity to work on a broad scope of team-based projects as part of your core courses, many of these in partnership with industry and leading teaching hospitals. Learn more about student projects here.
The carefully selected combination of courses, detailed here, coupled with relevant industry experience and a strong focus on team work, provides our graduates with a truly interdisciplinary educational experience at a world-renowned university.
You will have a wide range of opportunities available to you upon graduation. Browse through our alumni profiles to explore the diverse areas and pathways you can pursue with an MBiotech degree!
Our most recent employment survey, conducted for the Class of 2019, showed that 100 percent of graduates found related work in industry within 6 months of graduation, and 85 percent of our students secured full-time positions even before officially graduating!
