Kathy Costopoulos

Medical Science and Education Liaison, Rheumatology at Hoffmann-La Roche
Class of 2003

Kathy made the most of her internship placements to build the foundation od which to build her career in the pharmaceutical industry. Her second internship placement at GlaxoSmithKline opened the door to a long and successful term in clinical research. In the eight years that Kathy was employed at GSK, she progressed in head office and field-based roles with increasing breadth of experience.

Since that time, Kathy has enjoyed building on the experience gained at GSK with new roles in the Medical team a Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd. In 2010, Kathy joined Roche as a MEdical Manager for Dermatological Cancers. In this role, Kathy was instrumental in supporting the launch of a new product and gaining experience that will last a lifetime. One of her proudest moments was the day that Roche received notification of Health Canada Notice of Compliance for the product.

Kathy has transitioned from head office to a field-based Medical role where she has been working for several years. In her field-based role, she has kept busy learning and supporting several different therapeutic areas over the years. In the field, Kathy most enjoys the day-to-day interactions with Healthcare Professionals and indirectly feeling connected to patient care.

Kathy credits the M.Biotech program for giving her a leg up in the pharmaceutical industry - whether it be when applying for a new role or in day to day interactions with colleagues and healthcare providers. She remembers fondly the components of the M.Biotech program, the long days and nights, but mostly the outcome of the program - a long future career in the pharmaceutical industry.
