2019 Computer Science and Mathematics High School Teacher Workshop
A Dialogue on CS and Math Education
Every year, the Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences Department at the University of Toronto Mississauga(UTM) collaborates with Google’s Educator Professional Development Program to host a High School Teacher Workshop with computer science and mathematics teachers in the region. We are inviting teachers to attend this workshop to learn how first-year computer science and mathematics courses have evolved to adapt to the changes in the local high school curriculum and to share their insights and experience with Grade 11 and 12 computer science and mathematics courses.
Our aim is to create an on-going conversation between high school teachers and university faculty to better support and guide our students for success in their academic careers. Our dialogue will include the challenges and successes we experience when teaching our students, and we will collaboratively create a detailed document on “the things to know before taking a first-year mathematics or computer science course” for high school teachers and university faculty to give to their students.
If you are a Grade 11 or 12 Computer Science or Mathematics Teacher, Department Head, Guidance Counsellor or Secondary School Principal, we welcome your attendance.
The event will be held on the UTM campus between 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, and Wednesday, May 1, 2019.
Registration is free and includes dinner.
