PSDP - Certificate Programs

In addition to the PSDP Director's Circle and Transcript Notation, the Department is also offering three specialized certificate programs within PSDP. By attending all the required workshops, practical and assessment components, you will get a departmental certificate of recognition for the respective certificates.

PDLC Career Certificate:

Description of Certificate:The PDLC Career Certificate is designed to prepare Commerce and Management students for recruitment purpose with various stakeholders. Through the PDLC Career Certificate, students will have the opportunity to attend workshops focused to improve their resume/cover letter, interview skills, networking skills while exploring unique career paths and learning about equity standards in the workplace.

Note: Some sessions have multiple offerings, in case you are unable to attend the event. You only need to attend the Resume/Cover Letter, Networking and Interview workshop once.

Practical Element: Complete a resume critique, cover letter critique and mock interview with the PDLC team.

Assessment Element: Submit your completed resume, cover letter and complete an in-person or video interview based on PDLC sample job posting.

Completion Incentives: 

  • Students that complete the PDLC Career Certificate will be able to purchase UofT Branded Business Cards (100 card per set) and UofT metal name tag. 
  • Students will also have exclusive employer interaction opportunities including interviews, office tours etc..

Finance Certificate:

Description of Certificate: Are you interested in completing your CFA designation? Attend the series below with Professor Otto Yung to help you better prepare for Level 1 CFA exams. There are a total of 5 workshops + Mock CFA exams. Students must attendance all workshops and the mock CFA exam session to complete the Finance Certificate.

ICUBE - Entrepreneurship Certificate:

Description of Certificate: As part of several initiatives to accomodate more students this year, ICUBE has launched our Entrepreneurship Certificate for Commerce & Management students. Department of Management students now have the valuable opportunity of attending a variety of professional development events and earning points in the Professional Skills Development Program (PSDP). Student must attend a series of workshops (listed below) and complete hands-on volunteer work hours with an ICUBE startup to complete the requirements.

ICUBE - Startup Experience League (SXL) Certificate:

Description of Certificate: This experiential learning program is designed to support two key groups: a diverse range of undergraduate students (you), and seed and early stage start-up companies supported by ICUBE UTM or any other accelerator that is part of the University of Toronto. This program brings these groups together by pairing entrepreneurial students with start-up companies for project-based micro placements of five to ten weeks or one hundred (100) hours in total.

ICUBE UTM will mentor and support you throughout a 5-10 week term, helping you develop transferable employment skills through a series of workshops, seminars, and micro work-term placements. The program consists of various sessions of training and development, followed by a work placement with a start-up company.
