David Swanston is the principal of Swanston Management & Consulting, a hospitality and foodservices consulting firm. Founded in 1997, SM&C works with small and medium-sized clients to provide strategic planning, develop new concepts, open new locations and evaluate their business operations.

In 2003, David also founded Focused Industry Training Seminars Inc. Partnering with several provincial industry associations, FIT Seminars delivers public training seminars and contract training services for hospitality and food service organizations across Canada.

David frequently writes articles for several trade magazines and has presented at numerous regional, national and international trade shows and conferences.

SCHOLARSHIP

Since 2002, David has taught the MGT374 Operations Management course, focusing on examining concepts relevant to service operations. David also teaches a revamped MGM200 Analysis for Decision-Making and Control course, and the MGT1241 Operations Management course in the MMPA program. David has introduced several initiatives to enhance the students’ class experience including simulation games, guest speakers and case studies.
