Mississauga’s mayor-elect Bonnie Crombie has named Professor Deep Saini, vice-president, U of T and principal, U of T Mississauga, to her transition advisory council.

“I am proud to have the confidence of such a respected group of community leaders. I look forward to working with these individuals to make the transition between myself and Mayor McCallion seamless and to set forward a bold plan of action for our City,” says Crombie.

Crombie will be officially sworn into office on Dec. 2, taking over from longtime Mayor Hazel McCallion. The advisory council will provide advice and work with Crombie over the coming weeks to assist her in planning her priorities for the coming Council session.

“I’m honoured to have the opportunity to advise and support mayor-elect Crombie as she prepares to take office,” says Saini. “I look forward to providing her with any information and counsel about post-secondary education in our city and region.”

Other transition advisory council members include Trillium Health Partners president and CEO Michelle DiEmanuele; Mississauga-Brampton South Member of Provincial Parliament Amrit Mangat; Mississauga Board of Trade president and CEO Sheldon Leiba; United Way of Peel Region president and CEO Shelley White; and Sheridan College president and CEO Jeff Zabudsky.
