A media guru’s new vision of aging for Canada, behind the scenes at the Rick Mercer Report and the real heroes in the War of 1812 are some of the topics that will be discussed at the spring 2012 Canadian Perspectives Lecture Series at the University of Toronto Mississauga.

The public lectures include: media visionary and champion of the baby boomer generation Moses Znaimer with a video presentation and moderated talk on aging for Canada; the Rick Mercer Report’s supervising producer Tom Stanley discussing capers such as a sleepover at 24 Sussex Drive; and U of T professor emeritus Ken Weber talking about the myths, mix-ups, bravery and utterly stunning examples of incompetence during the War of 1812.

The lectures (with one exception) will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursdays from April 26 to May 24 in lecture hall 110, Instructional Centre. The May 3 lecture will be held in lecture hall 245, Instructional Centre. The five-lecture series costs $55 per person (including lunch following the May 10 lecture), or $12 per individual lecture. The Instructional Centre is located at U of T Mississauga, 3359 Mississauga Rd. N.
